Patton comes through with an award!

October 28, 1986- Residents and the board member of Uniondale Neighborhood celebrate receiving their first funding award from New York State, in their efforts to build Uniondale’s community center.

Imagine the excitement receiving the notice in the mail from Hon. Barbara Patton! Members of the organization were elated that their hard work was beginning to pay off with the letter from the assemblywoman that her office will award the organization a member item of $70 thousand for their mission. The organization went back to work right away by submitting its application and received its first installment of the funds on October 28, 1986.

The funds they received were deposited with the intent to make a purchase of property to use as a community center. Their work continued in that direction, as well as efforts to formalize their operating structure.
