Uniondale Neighborhood Center, not known to “letting the grass grow under its feet” moves to its next fundraiser. This time it’s a Dinner Dance at Monti’s Town & Country in Uniondale. With the urging of Hon. Joseph M. Margiotta who was instrumental in the acquisition of the property they acquired, and who happened to be a good friend who officiated at Joe and Dorothy’s marriage. Hon. Margiotta and president of the organization, Angel Mejias offered the extent to which Rev. Byrne had been a significant advocate for youth in the community. He had done so much good for children.

In truth, the organization realized what contributions Rev. Byrne, pastor of St. Martha’s R.C. Church made, and how it represented so much of what Uniondale Neighborhood Center’s mission is.

The dinner dance became an opportunity to recognize Rev. John J. Byrne – his life and how he cared for our youth“showed us the way” how we should order the principles and philosophy of Uniondale Neighborhood Center. The organization duly codified this recognition by naming the newly acquired building in honor of the reverend.
