Giving
Your financial support is vital to our Mission. Without it, we could not manage our day-to-day operations to provide our community programs and services or meet our program expansion goals. Any amount you give helps.
From its inception, Uniondale Neighborhood Center has been solely managed by volunteers, without the advantage of compensated staff, resulting in 100% of your giving going to directly benefitting our core mission.
Uniondale Neighborhood Center is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, so your contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Thank you, in advance, for your generosity.

insurance policies
You can name a charity or non-profit organization the beneficiary of a life insurance policy just as you can name people beneficiaries. Because you can name more than one beneficiary, you can divide the death benefit among your loved ones and a charity. The percentage of the payout the charity gets is up to you.
The primary purpose of life insurance is to provide a safety net for those who depend on you financially. The death benefit that is paid to your beneficiaries can help them cover daily expenses and even future costs such as college tuition.
A life insurance policy also can allow you to leave a legacy—not just for the people you love but for organizations and causes that are important to you. That’s because a charity can receive the payout from policy.
Donating a permanent policy will make it to the charity even if you live a long life. That’s because a permanent life insurance policy stays in force throughout your life, as long as you continue to pay premiums. Plus, the organization will have the option of surrendering the policy for cash if you transfer policy ownership before your death.
securities portfolios
It is always possible to donate retirement assets, including IRAs, 401(k)s and 403(b)s,1 by cashing them out, paying the income tax attributable to the distribution and then contributing the proceeds to charity. In many cases, though, there is little to no tax benefit associated with this type of donation. However, a direct contribution of retirement assets to charity as part of an estate planning strategy can be very tax efficient.
Give Online
We’ve made it easy for you to choose how to help us. The simplest way to support us is by donating online. Not only is it secure, but you’ll also receive immediate acknowledgment of your gift.

Uniondale Neighborhood Center, Inc. has undertaken to build an endowment with a targeted goal of $6 million. An estimated 5% annual ROI on this this amount, should we be successful will yield sufficient cash flow ($300,000 annually) to operate the new community center, in its present configuration.
Individuals and corporate entities who share our values and commitment to provide youth and family community services may help by contributing through a donor-advised fund. We have identified Vanguard Charitable for this purpose.

About Your Donations, Where & How They are used
You may opt to direct precisely where your donations are used. In the absence of your choosing, we may apply your giving, where it’s needed most. Generally we endeavor to allocate funds, for capital purposes, to the Building and Capital Expansion Fund. Otherwise, we allocate funds to immediate priority needs, then Program Development and Scholarships for Uniondale School District graduating seniors.
This strategy ensures our attention is focused on growth, sustainability, quality programming, and education, in that order.
Building fund
This fund is devoted to renovations and the upkeep of our aging infrastructure, property acquisitions, and expansion of facilities.
Operating fund
This fund is for the purpose of sustainability. Funds are spent on managing our entire operations. It is an essential part of our existence, because without it there’s no community center -as we need to be able to pay for utilities, maintenance, staff, insurance, general day-to-day upkeep and similar expenses to continue operations for use by the community.
program development fund
In general, our community partners are funded to provide their mission’s programs. Where there are gaps in activities, we may opt to develop programs to fill those needs, as well as provide grant-assist to participating community groups.
scholarship fund
Funds allocated to the scholarship fund, enable us to directly assist students with their education. The Uniondale School District annually awards scholarships to their students, and they reach out to community organizations and businesses for support. We may allocate appropriate funds to be provided in the name of John J Byrne Community Center, especially in the category of Community Service Awards for students who have volunteered their services for the organization.
